Halfway through the work week with
Five and a half weeks left until the end of the school year and the beginning of my much needed summer vacation.
I do not know why but the last few weeks are always the busiest and the most challenging with all the events that seem to take place. Senior students have so many events to attend like prom, senior tea, seniors helping seniors, field day, senior skip day, end of the year field trip and graduation times three. It makes the last weeks of school all play and no work. In case anyone is wondering about the graduation times 3, students in the Early College Program have three ceremonies to attend.
- Medal ceremony = recognition for their hard work and dedication.
- College graduation = Associates degree
- High school graduation = high school diploma.
Yes, in that order. It still amazes me how students receive their associates degree before receiving their high school diploma. Like we all say in the program…..hard work pays off!
I know there is people that cringe at the idea of working with high school students but I myself am the same way. I tend to cringe at the idea of working with younger/ smaller children. All I can say is that I have so much respect for educators who work with small children because it is not an easy task. When I first began my educational journey I worked as a substitute teacher since I was unsure of what grade level I wanted to teach.
I did sub for all grade levels from Pre-K through 12th grade and at first I was unsure if I wanted to be around smaller kids all day or with the bigger kids. The smaller kids are adorable and draw you cute little pictures (which I still have today) and they also like to share funny stories with you but the more time I spent with them the more I realized that I would rather be around the bigger/ older kids. And again for all elementary educators, you are absolutely amazing. Keep up the great work of being awesome. I know it is not always easy.
Summer is around the corner and I am in the process of planning a few road trips to take with the family. I am also in the process of getting everything summer ready for our little princess. She is at that stage where everything is exciting to her and she is constantly learning new words each day and I just love seeing her little facial expressions when she gets so excited. Last night I started putting up the summer decor in her room and as soon as everything is complete I will post some pictures on Instagram. I might even do a short blog post about it.
There are so many things that I am currently working on but I am determined to have at least one new blog post up each week and hopefully when summer comes along I will be able to post a lot more. Until next time.
Thanks for stopping by!
