Bottomless Lakes State Park

Spring Break is upon us, and we decided to take a trip to New Mexico. This state is absolutely beautiful, and the scenery is breathtaking. It was such a surprise to learn of all the amazing things that can be seen or done in New Mexico. One of the places we were lucky enough to visit was Bottomless Lakes State Park.

It is the first State Park in New Mexico and was established in 1933. The amazing lakes in this State Park are actually sink holes filled with water, but the views are breathtaking. I highly recommend visiting, if you are ever in the area. It is a short drive from Roswell and well worth the trip.

The “New Normal” Summer Bucket List

The New Normal Summer Bucket List

 

Summer is here again. And although many kids have been home since March completing online classes due to the pandemic; summer vacation is officially upon us. The questions we are asking ourselves is “what to do this summer with the kids?” And living with this “new normal”, “is anything really safe?” As a mother to an active five year old, I am listing “safe” fun things I can do with Savanah this summer as we continue to settle into this new normal.

Living in Texas, there is many places we like to visit during a road trip. I created a summer bucket list while taking the pandemic into consideration. Many places are requiring the use of a face mask while emphasizing the importance of social distancing. The activities on my list provide me with relief and comfort of knowing I am doing my best to keep my family safe.

Savanah’s First Costume Party

  • Savanah was invited to her first ever Halloween party and she was so excited! She originally planned on going as Mavis from Hotel Transylvania. We bought her a costume back in September along with a wig and make-up. However, Savanah was always dressing up as Mavis and went through her make-up rather quickly.

    • I took her back to the store to buy more make-up and Savanah spotted the Sally costume. She insisted on being Sally instead of Mavis. I think she made the right choice because her costume came out amazing. She received so many compliments. What do you think of her costume choice?

    Summer Fun with Kids

    Summer fun for kids

     

    We are halfway through the month of May which means that summer is almost near. Working in education I usually have the summers off and I always like to plan ahead for things to do with Savanah. She loves being outdoors and it doesn’t matter if the weather is HOT, she wants to be outside. Keeping that in mind, I always try to schedule outdoor activities that we can do early in the morning when the weather is a bit bearable. Zoo days, park picnics and walks on the beach are a few things that can be done in the mornings.

    For afternoon activities I like to schedule trips to a museum or to see a movie on the big screen. We can also stay home and bake some treats or create some crafts. Another fun and relaxing thing to do is having a spa day which includes a manicure and pedicure. Savanah likes being pampered every once in a while and it’s a fun way to wind down after a busy week of fun.

    I created a summer bucket list and I cannot wait to start crossing off as many items as possible. Living in Texas, there is so many things that can be done locally or with a quick little road trip. I hope this list provides you with some great ideas when creating your own summer bucket list.
